The truth of the matter is, we do not treat animals with love. Whether it is through eating them. Wearing them. Or using them as objects as ''entertainment'', animals get a rough deal. Are treated unfairly. Immorally. Or, just down right cruelly.

Even if animals did have a good quality of life, the ends does not justify the means. There is no justification for killing them. And no matter how ''humane'' the meat is claimed to be, killing is still a brutal act which involves suffering and bloodshed.
The meat industry is just one of the many industries which exploit animals, but it is the industry is something that most people are complicit in supporting.
We often hear from meat eaters that we should not humanise animals. But, why should we not. Animals are far more like us than we care to imagine, or admit to. In the greatest respect, they are most like us in the capacity to suffer. That suffering is no different in animals, as it is in humans.
Perhaps we don't want to humanise animals is more to do with admitting that animals at their core are exactly like us. They are living breathing conscious beings, with the capacity to experience the world around them.
The first step to loving animals is to humanise them. Because acknowledging the things that they have in common with us, is the first step to letting them live and without suffering.
It is only when we see all life as valuable, is when we can truly be able to love. Only loving our own species is not enough, nor acceptable. You cannot not love and be compassionate if you participate in the killing animals.
