Today there is a debate in the House of Commons, over the issue of snares. Snares are used as a way of trapping, and killing wild animals. Some refer to these animals as 'game', others refers to them as 'pests'. Neither of which are true.
Snares are never a quick way to kill an animal. Animals often suffer for hours captured in a snare. They rarely have a quick, or painless death. It is a cruel and barbaric one.
There are many different types of animals which are caught in snares. It is not just wild animals which get trapped in snares. It is also pets which get caught in snares. And, even farm animals get trapped in snares.
The League of Cruel Sports estimates that 1.7 million animals are killed in snares each year. Some of the animals killed by snares include; cats, dogs, rabbits, foxes, deers, and badger. But, there are more. Any animal which is unlucky to be caught in a snare, will likely die in one.
Not many countries in Europe legalize the use of snares. But, out of the five that do, Britain is one of those countries. The other four are; France, Belgium, Ireland and Latvia.
Any animal can be caught in a snare, but, there are some animals which are more prone to being caught in snares than others. They include; Badgers, Foxes, Deers, Cats, Rabbits and Hares, and small Dogs.
If you want to end the use of cruel and barbaric snares, then please sign the Leagues petition.
