Animals are eaten alive in some restaurants in the United States, new undercover footage from PETA has found.
You can watch the footage above. Though it is graphic.
The video shows unspeakable cruelty inflicted towards marine animals. It opens with showing the legs of an Octopus being chopped up. The video rightly points out that this Octopus feels pain as he or she is chopped up. Research has found that Octopuses not only have a nervous system, which is essential for feeling pain. But, that Octopuses have highly sensitive legs - each leg has it's own nerve cells. Therefore, when an Octopuses legs are chopped up while live, it most likely feels the same to them, like it would if it were your legs.
Octopuses are not the only animals to be eaten alive in some restaurants in the United States, other animals are too. Namely Lobsters, Shrimps and other animals.
Lobsters and Shrimps are known to feel pain in the same way that Octopuses do. Yet, they are also treated in a barbaric way in these restaurants. The Lobsters are steamed alive. While the Shrimps, Lobsters and Octopuses are served while alive, and eaten while alive.
It doesn't have to be this way though. We can put and end to this cruel and inhumane practice. It is not necessary and there is no excuse for it.
