The Big Garden Bird Watch has become an annual event for bird watchers, and wildlife enthusiasts the land over. It is a time when we can not only use our birdwatching/watching nature for our own enjoyment, but, we can also use the time to help contribute to our understanding of nature, and, our protection of it.
The event matters to wildlife, whether you see lots of wild animals, some wild animals, or none at all. It helps because the studies show how well, or not so well our wildlife is doing around us. It can tell us which species are thriving. Which are diving. And, tells use the general health of the biodiversity, and wildlife surrounding us. The study can become particuarly handy to spot declining species, and, or, species which are endangered. It helps us monotor them, and especially with regards to endangered species, helps us to know whether or not conservation is working for them. Because the event is done annually, we can help species who are declining, before they become endangered. With British wild animals declining universally, and biodiversity having a detrimental knock on effect because of it, studies like the Big Garden Birdwatch have became more important to the preservation of the countryside, habitats, and garden wildlife. It doesn't take much of your time, only an hour, and, you can sign up here to partake! https://ww2.rspb.org.uk/discoverandenjoynature/discoverandlearn/birdwatch |
