This is not the first Northern White Rhino to have died this year. Earlier in the year, in July, another Northern White Rhino had passed away. Nabrie, a 31 year old Northern White Rhino died in July in a Czech Republic zoo, where the Rhino had spent most of their life. The Rhino which has just passed away was 41 year old Nola, who resided in San Diego Safari Zoo Park.
The remain three Northern White Rhinos all live in Kenya. These three Rhinos are highly protected, with armed guards, and dogs protecting them around the clock, 24 hours a day, along with being protected a fence. The three remaining Northern White Rhinos are; Fatu (female, 13 years old), Najini (female, 27 years old), and Sudan (male, who is 43 years old). There is a slim chance that two of these animals could breed, giving birth to new Northern White Rhinos, however, if the male Sudan dies, then it really is the end for this animal, and there is no way back for them.
