Here are ten facts about our most beloved cats:
1. Cats were domesticated in Egypt. The domestic cats were domesticated over 2000 years ago in Ancient Egypt. The Ancient Egyptians did not only try and domestic domestic cats, they also tried to domesticate big cats, such as Lions. Although cats have been domesticated, they have always retained that wild part, and independent nature. |
They say dogs are a mans best friend, and are most similar to us, but, cats have more similra brains to us, than dogs have.
According to Pschology Today cats brains are 90% similar to our own.
Scientists now recon that cats are smart, but, we already new that, didn't we!
3. Cats travel distance
Cats have a very impressive travel range. Cats have been recorded wandering for up to 50 miles, pretty impressive for a small four legged animal.
Cat though, usually have their own territory which is close to home, but can stretch some distances.
4. Their purring
It is a common myth that cats only purr when they are happy, this is not true. Cats can, and often do purr when they are happy, however, this is not always the reason why cats purr.
Cats can often purr for other reasons. Cats can also purr if they are sad, or if they are anxious and stressful. It's also very common for cats to purr during pregancey.
5. Cats are clever.
We've already discussed how clever cats are. But, to prove that they are more intelligent than dogs, is the fact that cats have learned to mimick babies, so that they get what they want from their owners. Do dogs do this...no.
Cats have also learned other tricks to get what they want from their owners, including rubbing themselves against their owners legs.
